About the programme
The UN Games Volunteer Programme Pilot 2026–2027 creates a structured pool of trained volunteers to support the annual United Nations Games, preparatory activities, ceremonies, outreach and related events under the guidance of the UN Games Organizing Committee and Secretariat.
Volunteers can gain practical experience in event management, sports organization, communications, protocol, logistics and international cooperation while helping the Games remain inclusive, welcoming and well coordinated.

- Personnel, interns and fellows of UN entities
- University and college students
- Former UN Games athletes and participants
- Other applicants approved under the Pilot Programme
Minimum age: 18 during the Pilot Phase.

How participation works
Application → Screening → Volunteer Pool → Orientation → Assignment → Service Confirmation → Feedback → Recognition
Registration is open year-round but does not guarantee an assignment. Selection is based on operational requirements, relevant skills, availability, suitability and the need for balanced and diverse teams. Specialized roles may require a short interview, evidence of qualifications or additional authorization.
Training and recognition
Selected volunteers receive orientation on the Games, responsibilities and reporting lines, professional conduct, neutrality, confidentiality, safety, accessibility and task-specific procedures. Eligible volunteers may receive a Certificate of Volunteer Service recording their period, area and verified hours of service. Experienced volunteers may progress to Senior Volunteer and Team Lead roles.
Please note: Volunteer service is normally unpaid, does not confer United Nations staff status and does not authorize a volunteer to speak or make commitments on behalf of the Organizing Committee. Volunteers must comply with the UN Games Volunteer Code of Conduct and all assignment instructions.
